About

Hi, I'm Nick Rivera.

Ever been in a meeting where three people describe the same project three completely different ways? Yeah, same.

Most “operational problems” aren't really about the spreadsheet or the software or the seventeen-step approval process nobody remembers approving. They're about people — working heads-down in their own little world, speaking their own dialect of work — until one day nobody's quite on the same page anymore. That's when I come in to fix it. Sometimes with a system. Sometimes with a very well-timed question. Often with logic and practicality.

What I Actually Do

I'm Nicholas Rivera — think of me as the person you call when something's technically working, but everyone's quietly wishing for a better solution but doesn't have the time or resources.

Maybe it's a workflow that's grown eleven extra steps nobody questions. Maybe it's a team that's genuinely great at their jobs but somehow can't get through a meeting without the side conversations and bouncing around the agenda.

By day, I run student life operations at a small non-profit, wearing more hats than a coat rack. I took a project management tool nobody used and turned it into the thing our whole team runs on, built automations and programs that cut hours of busywork down to minutes, and along the way became the person every team calls when they're stuck — entry-level to leadership, doesn't matter. Spotting the thing everyone else hasn't noticed has become a specialty of mine, and learning people is just as important as the process.

The Philosophy Behind It

I grew up playing team sports, eventually finding myself one of the best collegiate rugby teams at the time. There's one core principle I always tried to live by: be the teammate you'd actually want on your side. Show up. Put in the real work, don't take shortcuts, don't push things off — and people start showing up for you the same way. Simple, consistent effort is what turns a good group of people into an amazing team. That's the philosophy I bring to every problem I take on.

Where I Can Help

Process optimization. Team communication that doesn't feel awkward or inconvenient. Better everyday work habits — how to prioritize, how to trick your brain into working on the days it doesn't want to, how to be the coworker people are glad to have. And if none of that quite fits your problem? Ask anyway. CRM's a mess? I'll dig in. Workflow needs a total teardown? Let's go. Nobody's been able to solve it? Even better — that's the kind of work that excites me.

Consider me the handyman for how your business actually runs day to day.

I'm just getting started as RiveraOps, but the work isn't new — I've been doing it for years, just internally. Now I'd like to do it for you.

How I work

A few things I believe about fixing operations

Most operational problems aren't really about the software or the spreadsheet — they're about people. Learning how a team actually works matters just as much as fixing the process. Here's what that looks like in practice.

Learn the people, not just the process

Most operational problems trace back to people working heads-down in their own world, speaking their own dialect of work. I learn how a team actually operates before I touch the process — because a fix only sticks if it fits the people using it.

The fix isn't always a new system

Sometimes the answer is a system. Sometimes it's a very well-timed question. My specialty is spotting the thing everyone else hasn't noticed yet — and using logic and practicality there is always a solution.

Simple beats clever

The best operational fix is usually the one your team will actually follow. I'd rather ship something plain that sticks than something sophisticated that gets abandoned in a month.

Think we might be a fit?
